It's all so clear.

As I was flicking through a magazine at my Nanna's earlier today I noticed this delightful, little bag and fell head over heels for it!

Was £25.
Now £12.50

Bargain, don't you think?
Isn't it just the cutest little thing!

Paper squares and pins!

So following on from draping calico on the stand the other day, on thursday I got given the task of using either squares☐, triangles▲ or circles❍ to create shapes and patterns on the mannequin.
Sounds easy enough right? Yes, well we had to use the Fibonacci Sequence for the size of the shapes.
This is produced by adding numbers for example... 1+1=2, 1+2=3, 2+3=5, 3+5=8, etc. (I actually really enjoyed working out the numbers as I am pretty good at maths.)
I chose the numbers 8, 13, 21, 34 to create my... SQUARES. ☐

Here's how I folded, pinned, positioned and patterned to create unique designs...

I did hip and side panels, by folding the squares into triangle shapes.

I folded and fanned my squares so they stood out from the mannequin.

For the shoulder I did the same as the hip but with smaller squares.

For the back I did the same as the shoulder and hip but alternating the way I pinned them onto the mannequin.

The shoulder again, I also folded the corners up to create a different shape.

A better view of the back.

This is my fave picture.

For the front I folded the squares into triangles then folded the triangle back again, this sounds complicated but it's really not too difficult.

For the neck I made lots of folds then pinched the middle to make like a fortune teller that's been unfolded, this also sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is. Haha!

I did another hip piece by doing lots of folds, I really liked this shape. This is very origami'ish.

What do you think?
Have you ever used paper to create and drape on the mannequin?

It's all very basic.

In college we are learning to use the new photoshop, we are learning basic skills to crop images and placing them onto a background! I had a little help from Jenny (Check out her blog at: http://jenny-onlyhime.blogspot.co.uk/), but all in all I am rather proud of my outcome, considering we had instructions for an older version of photoshop.

Here's my final outcome, it only took me about 10/15 minutes, so proud! Haha!

I placed the fashion figure on the right onto the Louis Vuitton background!
What do you think?
Can you use photoshop?

Fellow bloggers...

In my CAD brief at college, unit 125, one of my tasks is to look at three blogs I find inspirational, blogs I regularly check and look at.

ONE

For my first inspirational, and fave blog I chose TopCoat.
I chose this blog im-particular as during my summer I took a lot of inspiration and found a lot of inspiring images on here and on their Facebook page. (https://www.facebook.com/topcoatblog)
TopCoat takes images from magazines, magazine covers, celeb photo's in fabulous, expensive, designer wear. I also recently made a blog post on just a small collection of their images that I found inspirational and helpful for my summer work.

TWO

So the second blog I generally check out every week or so is Honey & Silk.
On her blog she updates her outfits, about general day to day life, her holidays, fashion finds, shops and offers, and more. She has a wide range of blog posts, this makes it very exciting and interesting to read... Her blog is very simple and feminine, but simple and clearly spaced and layout.
I enjoy reading her blog and I also follow her on LookBook too, she always dresses very sophisticated and fashionably. She is a true fashionista/inspiration.

THREE

This one was really difficult to choose as I have so many blogs I enjoy to look through but here it is number three...

It's PoppyTalk, a blog full of handmade goodies, vintage finds, home-wares, foods and holidays to all sorts of places. Although this isn't a fashion blog it is full of all sorts of goodies and I could trawl through it for hours looking at the cute foods and different pieces of art work, ways to decorate rooms, although I live at home with my parents I still like to dream about moving out and decorating my own place!

After looking through many blogs and finding inspirations, idea's and blog looks, I decided I wasn't going to change my blog as over the summer I had changed it a couple of times and right now I think my blog looks just how I want it to be, simple, with a sprits of pink and green, and it is clear and easy to understand, I also think due to not knowing exactly where I want to go and where my career is heading just this moment I think it can be interpreted however the reader believes it to be.

What do you think?
Who's blog do you regularly check up on?
What do you make of my blog?

Draping, shaping and being unique...

So it is the start of my second week back at college and I have been given THREE briefs already!
Today we began working on these briefs by draping on the stand, creating shapes and fitting a sheet of calico to the mannequin figure.
I worked with my fellow college student and blogger Jenny. (Here's her blog... http://jenny-onlyhime.blogspot.co.uk/) I hope you enjoy looking at her adorable blog!

Today I also learnt that darts, shaped seams, pleats, tucks, gathers, drapes and stretch/knit fabrics can help the fit of a garment to a persons figure.
So me and Jenny attempted some folds, pleats and different drapes.

Here's how we took the task and what came from our ingenious thinking! Haha!

This was created using folds and overlapping the fabric to fit to the curve of the waist.

To create the pleat like shapes and folds in this shape I tucked the fabric through the elastic waste of the mannequin.
I didn't find this very affective as it looks rather frumpy.

I really like this draped shape as it has lots of twists, folds, pleats, tucks, 'scrunches', etc. It shows off lots pf draping techniques all in one shape.
I would ove to make a garment like this, BUT where would I start?

This again is just folds and in my opinion a little boring and repetitive.

This was created by splitting the fabric in have, folding one half and wrapping it around to invent a bow. The folds and pleats formed themselves as we manoeuvred the fabric to create a distinctive bow shape.

Much like before this was created using many tucks, pleats, folds etc. I think this looks like an actual garment like the other as it has a low neck lone, the shape and the waist and it all drapes well to the mannequin.

Again this is tedious, with very little done to it except a few folds and pins to pull it to the figure.

This looks very roman in my opinion. It resembles a toga shape.
The pleats on the shoulder are very repetitive and it is unbalanced around the bust, making the mannequin look a lot bigger than it is, unlike the waist that is synched in.

I'm not sure how this shape came about as it has little shape except it looks like a deflating balloon.

The bow once again, from another angle.

Our attempt at fitting it to the bodice.
From this we learnt how to create the bodice block.

To create this we pinned the fabric, folded onto the mannequin and then pulled the far corner to the diagonal opposite corner to give it a funny draped shape.

For this I just held out the fabric at opposite sides to make it voluminous.

This looks like a deflated balloon in the more literal sense and I have a book that shows you how to create something similar.
I may post about those books in a later post.

For this we just folded it at different sections of the garment to make it figure hugging.

This was my version of creating a bow, which failed but turned into a new shape.
I really like it!
What do you think?

Jenny's ingenious bow skills!
Isn't it amazing?

A slightly different version to the folded, dress like shape from earlier.

This was a shape created while the fabric was still hooked over the elastic, we just fanned it out in different directions. I'm not too keen on this.

A close up of the above image. I like it from this angle.

This is a squid-looking shape that was formed my accident.

This is my ultimate fave!
Look at all of the detail!
What do you think?

What do you think of our draping?
